The Special education department at Lackawanna Trail oversees the identification, placement and delivery of educational services to students who are eligible for Special Education, Section 504/Chapter 15 Service Agreements, and Gifted Education. To accomplish this, the Lackawanna Trail special education teachers, speech therapists, and teacher assistants work in conjunction with a variety of special education program and staff from the Northeastern Education Intermediate Unit #19 so that all of our student's individual needs can be met.

As the head of this department since February 2000, I am committed to working collaboratively with both parents and staff members to insure that all identified students have their needs met in the least restrictive environment where they can make meaningful educational progress.
