Chess Club
Objective: The LTHS Chess Club strives to provide players of all ability levels the opportunity to learn the game of chess and improve their skills through online and in-person play, lessons, puzzles, tournaments, and information sharing.
Format: Players are assigned an online account through Chess.com. Players are expected to complete matches to the best of their ability in a timely manner each week, regularly attend monthly meetings, and challenge themselves to improve their game through club activities. All ability levels are welcome but a strong commitment to club activities is required.
The drama club offers many benefits such as improving communication skills, boosting self-confidence, and fostering teamwork, while providing a safe place for creative expression and personal growth. We provide community outreach opportunities and involve other artistic groups into our productions.
Meeting Times: Wednesdays after school until 4:30 pm
Geeks Guild focuses on building friendships and playing TTRPGs, video games and card games. All students are welcome to join no matter what their experience levels are.

The LTHS Genders & Sexualities Alliance, or GSA for short, is a student-run organization that unites LGBTQ+ and allied youth to build community and organize around issues impacting them in their schools and communities.
The Inclusion Club is a club that supports the Unified Track and Field team. Membership in the club is not limited to Unified athletes, however. Students may join in grades 7-12. New members are welcome. The club’s activities include promoting diversity within the school and educating students about a variety of disabilities and inclusion events at Lackawanna Trail and surrounding communities.
Interact is the student version of the Rotary Club focused on improving our community and the world. Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self.
Football Ironman Club
TRAIL 2024-2025
FOOTBALL IRONMAN CLUB
WHO:ALL football players entering 8th through 12th grade
(currently in 7th through 11th grade)
WHEN: Begins in January through July
WHAT: Coaches will be charting who is in the weight room
If you are NOT participating in a school sponsored sport, YOU are expected to be lifting 4 days per week
If you are participating in another sport you are expected to lift 2 days per week (abridged version of the workout)
In order to get your “paw” for the week, you must complete the ENTIRE posted workout and check with a coach before you leave the weight room or be participating in another school sponsored sport
Weight Room Hours: Monday – Thursday 2:30 to 6:00 PM Fridays 2:30 to 4 PM
You are responsible for your own rides
HOW: There are 30 weeks from January to July in order to qualify for the IRON MAN CLUB, you must fulfill at least 26 of those 30 weeks, this gives you FOUR weeks for exams, school projects, family vacations, etc.
WHY: Builds the foundation for championship caliber football players
A PLAQUE with the names of ALL members will be hung in the weight room FOREVER (for your kids to see!)
Chart will be shown to college coaches during recruiting
IRON MAN CLUB T-shirts will be awarded to qualifiers
Camaraderie and respect among team members
In order to be eligible to be voted as a football TEAM CAPTAIN, you MUST have qualified for the IRON MAN CLUB

Jazz Band

Meetings: Mondays 3-5pm. Will begin after Marching Band is over.
Meetings: The last Friday of each month at 7:25 am in the auditorium
The NHS and NJHS is for 9-12 grade students who meet the academic requirements. The organization promotes high grades, community service, and school involvement.
Meetings: Every Tuesday morning at 7:15 am in the LTHS auditorium
The student council serves as a representative body for the student population. They organize events, promote school spirit, and foster a sense of community. Through leadership and advocacy, student council members help bridge the gap between students and school administration.
No set meeting times. Independent workers– I meet with students as needed around their schedules during or after school. See Mrs. Hopkins in the Library or email her at hopkinsk@ltsd.org.
The LTHS Book Club is a student-led reading group with a catch: We discuss through online resources, rather than an in-person meeting. With many books to decide from, members are given the opportunity to choose their own path.
