The school counseling department at Lackawanna Trail Junior Senior High School consists of two counselors, a counseling secretary and a counseling aid. The counseling department services all students in grades 7-12. Lackawanna Trail High School has two full-time School Counselors, Brittany Butler and Tim Ronchi. The School Counselors are in charge of all academic, college and social/emotional aspects of student growth & support.
- Individual and small group counseling (short term interventions)
- Crisis intervention counseling
- Conflict resolution and peer facilitation
- Consultation/collaboration
- Referrals to outside services (including mental and physical health)
- Student Advocacy
- Advocate for individual students
- Advocate for positive change in the school and in the district

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) Teams are intervention programs staffed by teachers, guidance counselors, nursing staff, administrators and members from appropriate community agencies (Lackawanna/Susquehanna Office of Drug and Alcohol Programs, Children’s Service Center, Scranton Counseling.) The Elementary and High School teams are trained to identify and refer high-risk students to appropriate treatment. The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program is to help students overcome these barriers so that they may achieve, advance, and remain in school.
High-risk concerns: Substance abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide prevention, pregnancy or depression.
Referrals: Fill out a google survey form linked below. Referrals may come from students, parents, teachers, and administrators.

Student Information Form

Through Dual Enrollment, LTHS students are able to fulfill high school graduation requirements while also earning college credits. Attached are lists of the courses Trail offers that are approved through Keystone College and Lackawanna College as well as official registration forms for each school. All completed forms and payment can be submitted to the LT School Counseling office. Please reach out to the Counseling Office for more information and deadlines to register.

Lackawanna Trail School Counseling Mission Statement
The mission of the counselors of the LTSD is to provide high quality, comprehensive school counseling services to all students. School counselors are professional school advocates who provide support to maximize student potential and academic achievement as well as enhance their career, social, and personal strengths. In partnership with other educators, parents or guardians, and the community, school counselors facilitate the support system to ensure ALL students at Lackawanna Trail have access to and are prepared with the knowledge and skills to contribute at the highest level as productive members of society.
