Dear Lackawanna Trail Community,

Earlier this week I notified you that I was temporarily shutting down water fountains near the guidance office and at a faculty room at the junior-senior high school out of an abundance of caution due to elevated levels of lead recently detected during mandatory water testing.  The School District continues to work with the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) on a lead mitigation action plan to resolve the issue.  DEP has provided us with some additional educational information, and I have attached three documents for your review as per public notice mandates.  These public notice documents are effective Friday October 17th, 2025, and supersede my previous notices.

Sincerely,

Matthew Rakauskas

Superintendent
